Get it together fella’s – bodyboarder’s have been not landing rolls since the early 90′s why are you amped about this sequence – it is yet further proof that DK as a stand alone disciple is stale and has reached it’s limit.
Land and ride away from your moves if you want the wider community to give you credit and respect.
Sorry, I am not trying to be a divisive but I am sick of seeing you froth over incomplete’s then bitch about why you don’t get the sponsor love to follow the tour – not landing and riding out of advanced moves (be it prone or drop knee) precludes you getting from being paid to bodyboard.
Stop accepting cut away clips and sequences, demand more from your yourselves and your peers. As a discipline to still be celebrating incomplete jack stance rolls 15 years after the first ones was attempted should be all the explanation you need as to why you are not regarded as valuable as your prone brethren.
If you want DK to be a speciality – make it special – at the moment I could throw a rock into any break around the world and hit 20 blokes that could *try* a DK roll – think how far prone has come in 15 years (PLC is trying double backflips at Fronton) – Matt Lackey is at D’Bah trying an el rollo.
I find it hard to accept criticisms from someone who refuses to stand by their comments with a valid name, but i guess keyboard heroism is a drawback to todays social networking climate.
and please spare me with the plc double backflip bullshit. Why don’t you take his cock out of your mouth for 5 seconds and get a clue. If it’s so easy and everyday as u would make it seem then i am happy to feature shots of you not only attempting, but completing and claiming said ‘el rollo’ . until then i find it very difficult to read your whole ridiculous comment without glazing over.
I am inclined to agree with Nikki. Criticism can be taken seriously and constructively if there is a name to the comments. It is even harder to take criticism from people who, in their mad fury to get their point across, fail to grasp the English language. Such ‘powerful’ comments as “precludes you getting from being paid to bodyboard” not only undermine the integrity of your comments but just make you look stupid.
Funnily enough, there is some truth in the idea that DK is not progressing as quickly as the prone counterpart. Since Simon Ramsey left Riptide, there has been little to no attention paid to DK from any editor within Australia. Yes, it is probably because prone riders started acid dropping into 10 foot chopes and chasing down the heaviest waves they could find around the planet. Why does DK have to follow in their footsteps? Do you think Jack stance came about at 10 foot pipe? DK is fun, it was created by someone having fun and it will always be about having fun.
If you can’t see the current level of your sport presented in the media, it is difficult to grasp who is doing what unless you have a solid travel budget. For years DKers were frustrated by this fact, some people ran competitions to get the sport out there; some persevered with getting shots and footage, some threw in the towel and got a 9 – 5 and some don’t give three fifths of fuck all and just want to get in the water to wash the stresses of everyday life away.
You clearly have misunderstood the role of this website. Yes, there may be a few photos in here that are worthy of print, yes there are some that are not. DKers need a place to put photos, so that we can see the current level of surfing (whether it is up to your standard or not, point me in the direction of any one of us that really cares).
Show me this line-up where twenty people can rotate that far through a DK roll, because I’m putting it on my itinerary and surfing there ASAP.
Finally, it doesn’t have to stop. The site will carry on; DKers will progress because there are a select few who have a passion to see that happen. If you don’t like the site, stop wasting valuable redtube time and designate more of your time to that current hobby of yours. It may alleviate some stress.
so many quotable quotes….the ‘stop wasting valuable redtube time…’ being one of my personal highlights. such a good read and well articulated. thanking you popester.
Does this proners should stop frothing over Hardy and Rawlings?
Neither of them have won a world title. Seems like that makes it an incomplete career by that methodology. Does that mean we shouldn’t respect them until they do win a world title?
I’ll respect Lackey, Hardy, Rawlins, etc. regardless of whether their career (or trick inventory) is “incomplete” or not!
It’s a completely different discipliine and there are very few who are able to master it!
The fact that I am able to get out there and carve harder and sicker than alot of standups who have the aid of their fin system etc… with only the aid of my 60/40 or 50/50 rail makes me sooo frikkin stoked its ridiculous.
Dk is not about progressing every second with bigger moves and landing dk rolls or dk inverst or whatever ridiculous things that idiot \its gotta stop\ fool thinks is supposed to happen!
Its all about the feeling man, the feeling of gettin up, settin up, comin out and winding a hard soul shifting carve into a pice of the ocean.
I myself dont see dk ever progressing like prone because simply put its not possible lets get real….BUT the movement, stoke, style and discipline will remain a constant in the sport of bodyboarding because it is so much more than just a trend or anything like that, its not about that and anyone who can DK will know that
My guess is that \its gotta stop\ cant even stay in the Jack Stance for more than 2 seconds and he is venting here cos he is bitter and burning inside LOL!!!
YES! Thats fucking epic! Almost an ARS!
Check out the fan of spray starting at the 3rd shot. Perfect hit.
RESPECT!
that is just…amazing!
Lackey é o cara acertar uma dessas só DK casca grossa.
beat me to it stevie….looks like he tried to twist it into an ARS…..hectic!
Nice one, a vidz of the trick??
No that I know of. Just stills.
DK ARS almost!!
Lackey \the best\

Score 1 to Nikki.

Well, I see that the Pope kiddie has been able to see thru the spray he consistently throws and has carved a fine line with his pen.
