SHOUT OUTS: A big shout out 2 AJ ARRECHI ( i think thats his last name, Scotty Mason knows) dk style master, looks a bit like Fred Booth, backside master & a huge shout out 2 Matty (cant remember his last name but it will come 2 me soon) he had short dreddlocks, a few tatts, was an islander lookin lad & fckn ripped dk better than any 1 in Coffs at the time, I know thats a big call but its true. (Cattlin, im pretty sure that was his last name, Matty Cattlin, sumthing like that, Scotty Mase will know.) Anyway Matty & AJ were in the Scotty Mason era & their dk comps I witnessed were amazing 2 watch, I’m pretty sure u wouldve seen a couple as a grom 2 Rosey. Matty was the full underground rider, he would just pop up now & then when the waves were really crackin on his dodgy old yellow with orange slick mach7x or sx (they were actually pretty good boards) with 2 fins in the bottom lol, yeah, fins on a bodyboard & he would rip the guts outta the surf, throwing buckets of spray off the top with ease, pull off spinners in any position WITH FINS & he was the 1st dker 2 bust an air in front of me & nail the landing. As a grom learning dk he was my idol. & last of all a big shoutout 2 SHARPIE, he got me 2 where i am 2day with my dk. Man, we had sum dk sessions at Diggers southern end where we just pushed each other 2 the edge, id be floating out in the channel & there would be sharpie tucking in on a perfect left, then snappin off the top, carving into cutbacks & whackin it off the foam with ease, only 2 pull off the back of his wave & to float out & watch me repeat the same process almost & trying 2 go harder!!!!! Thats how u get fckn good at dk, mates pushin mates 2 the edge, time 2 check galls
Nice work Jacka!!!! Diggers southern end sessions are the best ever. Easily some of the funnest time’s I’ve ever had.
