Why DK: The feeling of riding a wave dropknee is truly unmatched, not to mention the fact that it is one of the most challenging ways to wave ride. Dropknee is much more fulfilling. Even though I’ve broken both my ankles from dropknee. I love it more than any other form of wave riding.
Favourite DK riders: Kainoa, Harnsberger, Roach, Dubb, Booth. To be honest I don’t have a favorite, I love and respect everyone’s unique style. Too hard to have a favorite.
Favourite DK Movie/Section: Roach from Enough Said, Kainoa in Untouchables.
Prefer Fronthand/Backhand: I’m more comfortable with my fronthand but I absolutely love getting solid backside pits.
Favourite DK move: Nothing beats a big gaping barrel. I’d say that or super powerful snaps.
Future For DK (eg-moves,direction): More critical waves. Dropknee riders have their work set out for them in regards to catching up to where prone riders have taken the sport. It’s sick to see what Bud, Dubb, Mason, and Feast are doing in the realm of technicality, style, control, and big wave charging. They are the future.
