For alot of you his name might not ring any bells but Chris Taloa (aka Chris Won) was and still is one of the great DK riders and is one of the few stand up bodyboarders who can lay some serious rail. Alot of the older generation of readers will remember a certain large DK backhand wave at pipe that looked like Chris got hammered only to appear from the spray hands pumping in the air. (We are trying to get a hold of this footage for you.) We believe that Chris Taloa is one of the few REAL stand up riders who made it what it is today……

Why DK:If I didn’t dk I wouldn’t feel like a complete bodyboarder. I have to be able to do everything and turn over all the rocks when I ride. Or else I don’t feel like a complete rider.
Favourite DK riders:Aka Lyman, Kainoa Mcgee, Jacky Buder, Mac Hall, Kyle Maligro, Kenny Cicero, Ray McCloud, Dean Marzol, all the old school guys piss on everybody I see riding these days. I believe it’s because they were able to compete with one another alot more and their were less rules against us. We could compete against the prone guys and no one would say, “oi that’s not allowed!!!” FUCK RULES! FUCK COMPS.
If it doesn’t allow something, it’s a box someone wants to put you in.
Favourite DK Movie/Section:Aka Lyman in a movie called RECON and the Fumanchu video.
Prefer Fronthand/Backhand:Anything regular footed but I’m focusing on the switch and am doing self myofacia release and thera-ball training to strengthen other areas of my legs to surf more strongly.
( I’ve been on the healing list for almost tow years with a challenged groin muscle that’s almost cleared for takeoff)
Favourite DK Move: A combination of Gouges and 180 tail blowouts. Any fucking direction my friend. Just lead the way and I’ll cut it out!!!!
Future For DK (eg-moves,direction): Solid switch stance and a separate tour for the dk riders.
DK Rippers At Your Local:In my area in N.hollywood we have a bunch of valley kooks who think they rip. In Hawaii we have a bunch of guys who think they rip. But there are only a hand full of guys who take it to the next level and they are usually underground bad asses everywhere through the island chain. You don’t see them make mags cuz they don’t surf normal places. These guys build their dreams solo and go out and pound waves on their time, not the worlds time.
You’ll find guys on the west side of Oahu and Maui and Kauai who are very talented. Here in Cali, you got to go to the central coasts and towards s.d. You’ll find a few underground guys. And when you do have them post some shit up so we can evaluate their asses and see if they’re worthy. I’m a picky cunt so I don’t give no props til I see the goods. I see a few Aussies doin their thing but still I’m not impressed. The old school Aussies were really good that I remember like Todd De Graff.
Shout Outs: I’d like to give a shout out to anyone who is doing this for the right reasons, whatever they might be. Paint your canvas and do it your way. No rules, no boss, no shit.

Just to let you guys know I just came back from a recent trip to Tijuana and I thought it important to let the general public know that the Mexicans put on a terrific event with a nice prize purse for both the dk and the prone. 1st place in both divisions got at least a thousand bucks. Next year they’re going to throw the event with more money involved! Their were clowns on the beach with melting face make-up that made them look like something from a horror film and Mexican WWF style wrestling with dudes wearing masks and a bikini competition with some hotties and beers all over the place and kids and food (seafood) and all sorts of good stuff. I recommend those dk riders that want a piece of that check to show up and fight the good fight and come on down and brawl it out on the gut or knee. I’d recommend that you come fully prepared for anything from wedges to low tide poop. either way it’s going to be twice what it was last year and the Mexicans are unbelievable hosts so pack your shit and train your ass off cuz this year the dk banner gets raised even higher!!!!
